Salone del Mobile, is the international benchmark event for the design sector
Every year over 370,000 people visit the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy, which takes place from 4th to 9th April this year. The Salone Internazionale del Mobile was founded in 1961 as a vehicle for promoting Italian furniture and furnishings exports. Nowadays, the event is a great place to show new design trends that take life and shape at Salone. Since 2015, the Salone del Mobile is hosting the exhibition Workplace 3.0, ‘A Joyful Sense at Work’ which features ideas and exhibits around the future of work environments.
In a collaboration with the company Scape, HARMAN’s JBL brand and JBL Everest Elite 700 headphones are featured in an exciting demo at Salone. Scape, a social design company based in Amsterdam, presents their project ‘RESET’ at the exhibition which is a fully immersive, modular structure that features scientifically proven stress reduction methods in a playful and interactive way. The project is designed to empower people to deal with stress more effectively. With the help of two different experiences, ‘Intimacy’ and ‘Sound’, Scape demonstrates its application to the workplace, and how employees may benefit from stress reduction solutions. Whereas the Intimacy experience is about inspiring calm, the Sound method is built on sound therapy principles, where there is a direct relationship between the activity of the participant and the effectiveness of the stress reduction. Additionally, there will be an area, where people will be fitted with wearables (heart and head) to track their response to the experiences. For example, the person’s heartbeat during the Intimacy experience will be reflected in the sound and lighting effects. The Sound pod will be fitted with drum pads for people to pick up sticks, put on some headphones and go for it. The walls are also sound responsive so people can discover sounds themselves by feeling around. Since sound is so personal, people should feel comfortable to listen, create and explore as much as possible.
