HARMAN Welcomes First Class of LEAP Participants

A selective early career development program designed to advance HARMAN’s future leaders

This month, we kicked off the Leadership Experience Acceleration Program (LEAP), a two-year global program for early career, high-performing talent focusing on engineering and sales. This inaugural class includes 24 professionals representing internal and external hires located in seven countries.

Program participants, also known as LEAPers, will complete three rotations in various positions in HARMAN’s Connected Car and Lifestyle divisions—each lasting eight months and with one being international.

HARMAN launched an extensive search to find the right candidates for this program. Through the program, we aim to provide this group with robust opportunities to learn, gain exposure to senior leaders, and benefit from global experiences that will elevate their business acumen.

Our leader, Dinesh Paliwal, President and CEO of HARMAN, shared a couple of lessons he learned early on in his career with the LEAPers.

He said, “First, asking good questions and listening to other points of view are far more valuable practices than talking. Second, stepping outside of your comfort zone is the fastest and best way to learn, live and thrive.”

During the duration of this program, you will likely hear more about LEAP and the program participants, but in the meantime, we’d like to introduce you to some of our LEAPers. Here’s what some of our future leaders had to say:

When asked what they hoped to gain from the program, LEAPers’ answers were indicative of their drive and promise:

“I am looking to learn everything I can from everyone I meet. I am a person that thrives on working complex, meaningful projects with passionate people. At the end of the day, I want all of the people I work with to learn, grow, never give up, and succeed together as a team!”

“My expectations involve being able to learn from the company leaders and expand my knowledge in both technical and business aspects of the industry. I am looking to enhance and develop my engineering, planning and strategy skills in the upcoming years to accomplish great results and outcomes. Additionally, I strongly believe that this program will allow me to broaden my experience and map out key opportunities towards achieving my goal in being a professional engineer and problem solver.”

Here’s what LEAPers have to say about themselves, and what drew them to HARMAN:

"Since I was little, I’ve had a passion for both technology and music. As I began my career in the technology field, I noticed something in my interviews. In all of them, they only asked about my hobbies a little bit and switched back to asking coding questions. Rightly so, as they weren't certainly interested in my passion for music. However, during my interview at Harman, the technical round started off with coding and software like the others. But, when I introduced them to my musical background, they started asking me clever questions related to music. As we uncovered further connections between music and technology, it became clear to me that this was one company where passion combines with professional progress.”

“I really enjoy listening to music, I'm a bit of an audiophile, and I also play the piano and the drums.”

“The fact that Harman is at the forefront when it comes to innovative products in the "connected car division".”

“The job profile, products, work culture and most importantly, Music.”

“The opportunity to work and experience immense diversity to kick start my career”

“It's dedication to excellence and diversity-embracing culture.”

“The passion and kindness of its people. In addition, the ability to make an impact on the future of mobility and the average person's life.”

Clearly, this is a talented, bright, and ambitious group. We’re always on the lookout for other professionals who could be described in the same way. If you’re interested in learning about all of the current opportunities at HARMAN, click through here: https://www.harman.com/careers
