On June 21, as the summer solstice marks the longest day of the year, people around the world came together to celebrate Make Music Day. Rooted in creativity, accessibility, and connection, it’s a day that reminds us music is everywhere: in our routines, our communities, and the moments that move us forward.

At HARMAN, we’re celebrating a few milestones this  year, including JBL’s 80th Anniversary, and through this lens we’re celebrating Make Music Day at HARMAN by launching a global movement challenge: “Powering What’s Next: 80 in Motion,” a campaign that captures how music fuels movement, storytelling, and connection across our global community. At the heart of it all is a shared playlist that reflects who we are and what drives us: “80 Songs Around the World.”

What does HARMAN sound like? The answer lives in this global playlist, a curated collection built from contributions across regions, roles, and cultures. Together, these songs form a living soundtrack that spans continents and experiences, from car rides to evening wind-downs, and from person to person. Every song has a story, and every story reveals how music moves us in our daily lives.

For some, music is about movement. Through our partnership with Charity Miles, employees can log their movement while supporting causes they care about. Cecile, turns to techno while running, using its steady rhythm to maintain pace and push through each mile. For Manoj, music accompanies long bike rides through both city streets and open countryside, adapting to changing surroundings while creating a sense of continuity along the journey.

These personal moments don’t just remain individual, they connect to something larger.

On Make Music Day, that connection becomes even more tangible through initiatives like the Charity Miles Movement Challenge, where employees translate movement into impact. Whether it’s powering a morning run, creating focus during the workday, or providing a mental reset, music plays a role in how we feel and perform.

In this way, the songs we listen to become the soundtrack to collective action. This is where “80 Songs Around the World” becomes a catalyst. Each song contributes to a broader story of connection, wellbeing, and giving back.

At HARMAN, this global playlist represents where we are today: connected, diverse, and constantly in motion. But it also points toward what comes next.
