CES 2014, LAS VEGAS -- HARMAN, the premium global audio and infotainment group (NYSE:HAR) will demonstrate the integration of Google Glass with its advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) engine at the ONE HARMAN experience showcase at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. HARMAN continues to implement its ADAS engine on a variety of devices and is the first Tier 1 automotive supplier to launch ADAS implementation on wearable devices, a growing market projected to exceed $5B in 2016.

HARMAN will demonstrate how Google Glass can be seamlessly integrated with the company’s ADAS engine at the showcase. The system uses an Android camera feed and image processing to analyze in real-time camera the potential road risks provide alerts through the Google Glass. For example, the system continuously computes the time to collision with the vehicle in front and provides audio-visual collision alerts once the risk level crosses a certain threshold. The concept demonstrates how a driver can receive headway alerts, collision and off-road warnings delivered straight to Google Glass, along with emergency or warning messages.

The company continues to be committed to integrating and supplying cutting edge innovation to automakers and providing complete end-to-end solutions. The integration of its ADAS engine into Google Glass is another example of HARMAN’S engineering capabilities, and offers a vision into the future of driving.

“At CES, HARMAN is showcasing exciting new solutions that upgrade, connect, and improve the infotainment and audio experiences for vehicles on the road today,” said David Slump, president, HARMAN Automotive Services. “Harman is the market leader for connected infotainment, and our innovation pipeline spans the spectrum of in-car experiences, including the ‘future experience’ of how next generation drivers might interact with technology such as augmented driving in the car. Our Google Glass integration is another example of how our engineering services capabilities help automakers integrate the latest CE-technologies and improve their infotainment systems with the latest connected vehicle services.”
