JBL® Announces the World’s First Sport Headphone with Ambient Aware and ANC, no batteries required

CES 2015, LAS VEGAS – HARMAN, the premium global audio, infotainment and enterprise automation group (NYSE:HAR), introduces a series of new sports headphones that includes the JBL Reflect Aware™, the World’s first sport headphone that gives the athlete the ability to mix ambient sounds with active noise cancelling performance, allowing any athlete to optimize their audio performance for every workout. The lightest ANC headphone on the market requires no battery through the use of Lightning Connector or Micro USB features Ambient AwareTM technology.

“With conventional in ear noise cancelling headphones, today’s athlete is limited to only full noise reduction or no noise reduction. Our extensive research with athletes of all levels shows that workout locations vary, and therefore the ideal headphone needs to be able to adapt to varying environments” said Michael Mauser, president of HARMAN Lifestyle. “The new JBL Reflect Aware™ headphone delivers both best in class active noise cancelling performance AND the ability to mix in sound from your environment for greater awareness of your surroundings when you want it, making this the most versatile sport headphone on the market.”

The JBL Reflect Aware™ headphones redefine the meaning of a focused workout. These headphones deliver sound isolation with form fitting ear tips and active noise cancelling technology when you want the ability to drown out the world around you and focus only on your workout. With the JBL Ambient Aware app, the athlete can mix ambient noise in with the active noise cancelling, giving him better control of what he hears, so he can remain focused on his workout knowing that he will hear important sounds when he needs to. JBL Ambient Aware app, not only gives the athlete control of the ambient noise level, but also custom EQ settings to create the perfect audio sound for your workout.

Another annoying distraction common to conventional in ear noise cancelling headphones is the battery box. Designed to draw power and audio directly from the lightning connector on Apple devices or the micro USB on other devices, The JBL Reflect Aware™ headphone is not burdened by the cumbersome battery box. It comes with a small 4- button remote control to enable standard play/pause and volume controls in addition to ANC on/off, no more bouncing battery box. The microphone is embedded in the earphone to deliver superb clarity of communication, and away from the remote controls to prevent any interference.

As the newest member to the JBL Reflect line of sport headphones, the Aware headphone is designed to withstand the most grueling workout as a piece of sport equipment, with a rugged, sweat-proof design and patented ergonomic ear-tips for hours of comfortable wear with exceptional stability and comfort not to mention powerful sound you expect from JBL. Now, you can stay in total control of your zone with the lightest ANC headphone on the market.
