At HARMAN, we believe innovation happens where passion meets purpose – and that employee wellbeing drives both personal fulfillment and professional excellence. Meet Manjunath HC, an engineer from HARMAN India whose journey from chronic pain to mountain peaks demonstrates how personal challenges can spark a commitment to helping others.

In recognition of National Wellness Month, we’re celebrating how HARMAN's support of programs like Charity Miles empowers our team members to focus on their health and wellbeing while making a difference with every step. The Charity Miles app connects physical activity with charitable giving to convert steps, miles, and workouts into donations for causes that matter to participants. For fitness enthusiasts like Manjunath, this means every training mile, every mountain preparation session, and every fitness milestone becomes a donation to charity – creating a powerful connection between personal achievement and community impact.

Over the past decade, Manjunath has not only conquered his physical challenges but scaled new peaks, all while adding more meaning to his miles – turning every training mile into charitable donations through our HARMAN Inspired partnership with Charity Miles.

When he first began trekking, Manjunath faced a daunting obstacle: his knee would lock and prevent him from climbing down. Rather than accepting defeat, Manjunath committed to a rigorous physical therapy regimen, regaining full strength and mobility. The experience not only ended his chronic pain but transformed him into a casual trekker into a long-distance mountaineer.  Today, Manjunath holds certifications in rock climbing, basic and advanced mountaineering, and serves as a liaison officer for foreign expeditions in the Indian Himalayas. Discover his most memorable Charity Miles moment on his inspiring journey from pain to peaks and the impact he has created along the way:

Manjunath's approach to mountaineering offers valuable lessons for any challenge, whether scaling peaks or starting a fitness journey: "In mountaineering, when you face an obstacle, you have two choices: turn back or push through – but you must take it one step at a time, one day at a time."

Manjunath's journey – from overcoming knee pain to conquering Himalayan peaks while turning every mile into charitable giving – shows how personal triumph can inspire greater impact. At HARMAN, we're proud to support employees like Manjunath who push boundaries in their careers and channel their passions into making a difference.
