At HARMAN, we truly believe in empowering the next generation to realize their possibilities through music, technology, and service. A key part of our company purpose is rooted in our commitment to giving back and supporting our communities across the globe. Through HARMAN Inspired, our global cause initiative, our employees work together with our longtime non-profit partners and other local organizations to volunteer and lend their support for those in need.
In recognition of National Philanthropy Day on November 15th, we’re highlighting a few of our longstanding partners and recent initiatives that our team members have participated in around the world to help give back to their communities:

Empowering Women in STEAM
Women remain underrepresented at every level of the tech industry, and we’re committed to helping close the gender gap. For the last five years, we have partnered with the 1,000 Dreams Fund to help support young women who are pursuing their dream careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). Through the New Face of Tech Challenge, the next generation of STEAM leaders are invited to share their professional goals and dreams for the chance to win funding and mentorship from HARMAN executives. Since launching in 2017, HARMAN has helped award over $16,000 in grants to more than 75 inspiring young women from across the country. Submissions for the 6th annual New Face of Tech Challenge are now open – learn more here.

Additionally, we’re helping provide opportunities for young women to build their STEM skills and gain relevant experiences through our partnership with Technovation, the global tech education nonprofit that empowers girls to become leaders, creators, and problem-solvers. This fall, HARMAN sponsored Technovation’s first Career Summit for the program’s alumnae around the world to help support their continued growth and open doors to new opportunities.
Supporting Local Communities

In addition to working with global non-profit organizations, team members have the opportunity to participate in various “Signature Days” that leverage their own interests and passions through hands-on service. For example, our Novi, MI team members joined forces with the General Motors DEI team and Free Bikes 4 Kidz® earlier this fall to refurbish gently-used bicycles for kids-in-need to help them enjoy a healthier, happier childhood. Similarly, our Stamford, CT employees volunteered with SoundWaters last spring to collect and clean up more than 70 pounds of trash and debris at a local beach. And for many years in Bangalore, India our team members have volunteered with Sandesh, a nonprofit organization on a mission to create a community that empowers people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Our employees around the world are also encouraged to participate in our Charity Miles program, where they can raise funds for a charity of their choice with every step they take or mile they cycle.
Giving back to our communities where we work and live has always been a priority at HARMAN. We know we can achieve more by working together and by helping others through our partnerships and initiatives with HARMAN Inspired, we’re providing new opportunities for the next generation of leaders to realize their potential.
