STAMFORD, CT – Harman International Industries, Incorporated (NYSE: HAR) announced today that Frank Sklarsky has been appointed to serve as a member of the Company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Sklarsky will fill a vacancy on the Board and will serve under this appointment until December 2012, at which time he will stand for reelection to the Board through the Company’s normal process.

Mr. Sklarsky is currently the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Tyco International Ltd., a leading global provider of security, fire protection and flow control solutions, with revenues of $17 billion. At Tyco, Mr. Sklarsky has been instrumental in unlocking and creating significant shareholder value. As previously disclosed, after Tyco’s planned separation he has decided to leave Tyco later in the year to pursue other opportunities.

Prior to joining Tyco, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Eastman Kodak Company and ConAgra Foods, Inc. Earlier in his career, Mr. Sklarsky spent 20 years with Chrysler in a series of senior financial leadership roles. He also served in other executive finance positions with Dell, Inc. and started his career with Ernst & Young. He earned his MBA from Harvard University and his Bachelor of Science, in Accounting, from Rochester Institute of Technology, where he serves as a member of the Board of Trustees. He is also a certified public accountant.
