GENEVA – HARMAN, the premium global audio, visual, infotainment, and enterprise automation group (NYSE:HAR), brings its engineering excellence to the new Ferrari 488 GTB which features the HARMAN-designed and -built infotainment platform and JBL professional premium sound system. Ferrari unveils the new two-seat sports car at the Geneva Motor Show and together with HARMAN will highlight the thrilling combination of speed, sound and safety. An integrated cluster display bears a new user interface specially designed with Ferrari. The HARMAN infotainment system gives you complete access and control to entertainment, navigation and communications via a new designed HMI. Core features are Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), Apple CarPlay and “speech-to-text and text-to-speech”.
Hands-free infotainment lets you keep both eyes on the street and both hands on the wheel. Advanced navigation options and real-time connectivity all help to increase ease-of-use. Hands-free calling and SMS make the Ferrari 488 GTB a natural extension of the office. The HARMAN infotainment system onboard the Ferrari also enhances the music and audio experience through features such as Bluetooth-streaming via A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) and support for Digital Audio Broadcasting.
The premium-branded JBL Professional sound system delivers immersive sound into the interior of the vehicle through a total of 12 speakers and a 1280-watt, 16-channel JBL Professional Class-D high-performance amplifier – creating rich and powerful sound with excellent dynamics, even when the car is traveling at speed – which it will, thanks to its new 670 HP biturbo engine.
To enrich the superb sound of the JBL PRO system, the Ferrari sports cars will also feature QuantumLogic Surround, which gives audio tracks a controlled sound quality by introducing revolutionary new audio algorithms to extract signal streams and impulse responses from the original recording. Individual voices and instruments, as well as embedded reverberant spatial information, are identified and then re-authored into a precise multi-channel soundstage. And to guarantee a best-possible fidelity, it has also Auravox Tuning on board.
Commenting on the best-in-class JBL PRO audio system in the Ferrari 488 GTB, Michael Mauser, President Lifestyle Division, HARMAN, said, “In the more than 15 years of our partnership with Ferrari, HARMAN has always aimed at providing Ferraristi with a best-possible sound experience, so the audio system will sound as great as the engine.”
Visitors to Geneva can experience the transformative effects of QuantumLogic Surround technology on the listening experience at the HARMAN booth (hall 6, booth 6240). The JBL PRO audio system and HARMAN infotainment system are on show in the Ferrari 488 GTB at Geneva.
